Water Spigot Repair and Installation Long Beach

That outdoor water spigot on the side of your house probably gets turned on and off more than any other fixture on your property. Watering the garden, washing the car, rinsing off the dog after a walk at the park. It gets used hard and almost never gets any attention until something goes wrong. When a water spigot starts dripping, leaking around the handle, or stops shutting off the way it should, Long Beach Pro Plumbing Inc fixes it fast.

A dripping water spigot is the most common call we get. When you turn the handle all the way off and water still keeps coming out, the small rubber washer inside the valve has worn down and can no longer hold the water back. It is a simple internal part that gets replaced, and when that is the only issue, the repair takes very little time. In some cases the metal surface the washer presses against has gotten rough over the years and needs attention too, otherwise a new washer still will not seal properly. We check for both when we open up the valve.

Water leaking from around the handle itself is a different problem than a dripping outlet. The seal that wraps around the stem inside the valve keeps water from escaping through the handle area. When that seal wears out, water finds its way out from behind the handle every time the spigot is on.

Sometimes snugging up the handle nut a little stops it temporarily. When the seal is fully gone, it needs to be replaced. Either way, it is a repair we can handle quickly without pulling out the whole spigot.

When a water spigot has reached the point where repair does not make sense anymore, we replace it with a quality outdoor fixture that will hold up to regular use. The newer style of outdoor spigot runs the internal shutoff deeper into the wall, which keeps water from sitting in the exposed part of the fixture and extends the life of the valve considerably. We also add a dedicated shutoff inside the house whenever we do a replacement, so the outdoor water can be turned off from inside without affecting the rest of the plumbing.

California code may require a small backflow prevention device on outdoor spigots to keep water from a connected hose from ever being drawn back into your household water supply. It threads right onto the end of the spigot. We make sure it is in place on every spigot we service or install.

Adding a new outdoor water spigot is a  job we do regularly. Maybe you are tired of dragging a hose from one side of the house to the other, or you are setting up a garden area in the backyard and need water access close by. We tap into the nearest suitable supply line, run the connection out to where you need it, seal the wall opening properly so rain and moisture stay out, and put a shutoff inside so you have full control from indoors. Long Beach homes come in all kinds of construction, from older stucco bungalows to newer builds, and we are comfortable working through all of them.

Whether your existing water spigot is giving you trouble or you need a new one added somewhere on your property, give Long Beach Pro Plumbing Inc a call. We will get out to you, figure out exactly what is going on, and take care of it the right way.
